Atoning for the sins of our past’

Council for World Mission in partnership with The Centre for Black Theology, Oxford, are hosting a one day workshop at Regent’s College, the University of Oxford. The day will explore the rise in discourse pertaining to reparations for the horrors of the Transatlantic slave trade and the challenges this presents to churches and mission agencies in the 21st century. 
Confirmed keynote speakers include Professor Anthony Reddie, Professor of Black Theology in the University and Oxford and the Director of the Centre for Black Theology, Oxford, based in Regent’s Park college. The other keynote speaker is an emerging scholar, Thandi Soko-de Jong, who is a PhD Candidate, and is also a writer and speaker, with a focus on Racism & Religion 1400s-1800s, Theology & Gender, Health and the Environment. The afternoon will consist of a roundtable discussion with activists, ministers and church leaders.
