The Italian government has decided to stop financial help to the IsIAO (Italian Institute for Asian and African Studies, formerly IsMEO), one of the most prestigious research institutions in Europe, and force it to close down. Students and scholars in Italy have begun a campaign of signing a petition to request the President of the Republic to intervene and foil the closing plans of the Institute.
