We are not safe – Blackness on Trial

Racism is a group project. A coordinated effort at all levels of the system to other, demonize, oppress, ruin reputations with the ultimate goal to rob a Black person of their freedom, livelihood, life. The response to racism is unfortunately never systemic– sometimes Black people arent brave enough to form alliances, others internalize the racism and believe the negative tropes or join the White effort to destroy. Targeted individuals are not, in real time, given the support of Black Media, Black Media personalities, civil rights organizations. It is usually only after someone succumbs to the group effort to destroy their life that we see the stories getting the scrutiny they deserve.

A sister in Italy contacted me about a sister in Vilnius

She said something about a trial and racism and sent me the link to her Instagram. I’m sharing some of her Instagram posts here. Her name is Kamisha L. Menns.

I should have had a trial hearing on July 2, 2026, but the judge, after refusing to remove the public defender for lack of competence and for breaching attorney client privilege.

A White mother who was refused service, then assaulted, would never be charged with insolence to a White woman, nor with being rude, imperious, or arrogant or imperious. What I want to say to Black people living in Europe and the rest of the world is that racist politicians and legislators and judges are busy trying to re-create Jim Crow laws all across Europe.

I hope you can see where this ends and how this ignorance, low self-esteem, fear, insecurity, bigotry, and the use of White majority power drives the effort to create a hierarchy of the races and apportioning of rights in Europe and how this relates to my criminal prosecution for insolence to a White woman and for making her cry and turning these accusations out to be incitement of racial hatred and public disorder.

So why is she in Vilnius? Can’t we be wherever we want? In her own words:

Why is a Black woman living in Soviet Country with a history of slaughtering 99% of its Jewish Population and known– to many but me, apparently — for being uncivilized and raaacist. Well, I honestly did not know. It had not been my experience as I was apparently being shielded. I only now realized my ex-husband shielded us from the worst his country had to offer. I naively thought Lithuania being EU, and signatory to the ECHR, that it had acquired a level of modernisation to its legal system– getting rid of its Russian/KKKNAZI German Fascist and Raaacist Ways– before being allowed to be a candidate for the EU. And I had not traveled in society enough to be exposed to it on a day-to-day.

Who is Kamisha L Menns?

KL Menns is a multi-jurisdiction trained lawyer and international policy, regulatory and government affairs strategist who has spent more than two decades working across Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and North America. She has written, developed and advised on trade, finance, banking, competition and consumer protection laws and regulatory frameworks across more than 50 African and Caribbean countries, working with governments, regulators, international organisations and private-sector stakeholders. Her work has included leading the development of regional financial consumer protection, deposit insurance and mergers and acquisitions model laws for CARICOM Member States; developing competition and mergers regulations for the East African Community; advising governments on trade and WTO frameworks; and working on banking competition and financial inclusion reforms in Jamaica. She has worked with and advised organisations including the United Nations, World Bank, European Investment Bank, CARICOM and the East African Community, as well as Ministers, central banks, competition authorities, consumer protection agencies and senior government officials.

A significant part of KL’s career has involved translating complex legislation and regulatory policy into practical systems that governments and institutions can implement. She has led national and regional consultations, negotiated policy frameworks, advised Ministers and Cabinet-level officials, and trained and supported judges, government lawyers, regulators and other public-sector professionals on evolving legal and regulatory regimes. 

Alongside her legal and policy career, KL runs a skincare hobby shop, which she uses as a creative space to build community and connection among women of the African and Caribbean diaspora. She lives in Vilnius with her daughter Hazel, for whom she named her hobby shop, Hazelberry Skinfood.
