Opera legend Grace Bumbry died in Vienna, Australia earlier this month. She was one of our first Power Listers in 2010. Listen to the story and hear her sing on the US’s National Public Radio All Things Considered program below.
She had one of the most illustrious operatic careers of the 20th century. She was also the first Black singer to perform at the Paris Opera and the Bayreuth Festival in Germany.
