The most powerful black women in Europe

Power is defined as the ability to act or produce an effect. The definition of powerful is having great power, prestige, or influence. The women on the inaugural Black Women in Europe™: Power List 2010 include politicians, business women, trendsetters, award-winning athletes, activists and social entrepreneurs.

Black women have not been allowed to attain powerful positions throughout modern history. However, as the Internet further permeates global consciousness, black women have more of an ability to work together and the economic and social standing of women worldwide. From remote conferences to online MBA programs, there are opportunities for education everywhere and with enough virtual networking, the support is now also available. Getting educated and getting ahead is now a possibility for a generation of women whose predecessors did not have the same opportunity.
