Hellen Felter

Hellen Felter is an award winning scholar, activist, anti-racism trainer and student mentor. Her work focuses on issues of government policies, race, gender and discrimination.

Hellen works at Tiye international, the umbrella NGO of 21 National Organisations of Black, Migrant and Refugee (BMR) women in the Netherlands, which was established officially in 1994 by the Chamber of Commerce. Tiye enjoys Special Consultative Status with de Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations since 1998. Among other roles, Hellen is a Board Member of the EWL, the largest coalition of women’s organisations in the EU.

Hellen is a sought after speaker and has addressed audiences on numerous topics including “The cultural interaction and adjustments of writers in exile and writers who have immigrated to other locations”, the “Launching of the European Campaign on Women Asylum seekers”, “How to combat racism in Europe today”, “Bridging the Gap: Overbrug de Kloof tussen Beleid en Praktijk” and “Black Rights, Social Exclusion and the Dutch Government”.
