The Black German Cultural Society, Inc. is excited to announce its 1st Annual Convention to be held from August 19 to 21, 2011, at the German Historical Institute (GHI) in Washington, DC. With the theme of “Strengthening Transatlantic Connections,” the convention will host guests and presenters from our international community in Germany and the United States.

Noah Sow

Our keynote speaker will be Noah Sow, the acclaimed journalist, musician, producer and author of “Germany Black & White” (2008), who will speak about “Geteilte Geschichte: The Black Experience in Germany and the US.” ISBN: 978-3-570-01008-2

PROPOSALS:
Proposals for workshops, panels, or paper presentations need to be submitted to BGCS (bgcsinc@gmail.com) by May 1, 2011 together with the registration for the convention. We will attempt to accommodate all applications and will notify you by the end of May 31, 2011 about the format and time slot assigned to you.

BOOK / PROJECT EXHIBIT:
There will be a book and project exhibit at the convention. Please sign up for this providing detailed information about what you would like to exhibit together with your registration for the convention by May 1, 2011 (at bgcsinc@gmail.com). Book or DVD sales will not be possible during the convention.
