France has her first black Justice Minister with the selection of the vulnerable Christiane Taubira.

Ms Taubira was recognized on the inaugural Black Women in Europe Power List in 2010 for her outstanding political career.

Justic Minister Taubira is a former Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Member of the European Parliament, Member of the Committee on Development and Cooperation, and Member of the Delegation EU / ACP. She wrote the first draft Act to prohibit the manufacture, storage, sale and use of anti-personnel mines (MAP) and is the author of a European Parliament resolution to ban MAP. Ms. Taubira is the author of the Act to recognize the slave trade and slavery as crimes against humanity which was adopted by the French parliament, promulgated by the President of the French Republic and co-signed by the Prime Minister and eight ministers concerned with its provisions (Education, Research , Justice, Culture and Communication, Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Interior, Overseas).
