Bernardine Evaristo – Lara Book Launch – Wednesday 5 May, 7pm at Brixton Library
Bernardine Evaristo was born and raised in London. She has published four cross-genre novels, including Blonde Roots, Soul Tourists and The Emporor’s Babe. In March she published ‘Hello Mum’ about teenage knife crime aimed at adult and teenage readers. She co-edited the Granta new writing anthology ‘NW15’.
Lara is a powerful semi-autobiographical novel-in-verse based on Bernardine’s own childhood and family history. The novel travels back over 150 years, seven generations and three continents of Lara’s ancestry.
