Judith Kiros

 

Judith Eden Mikaela Tesfaye Kiros, born 13 July 1989, is a Swedish poet, journalist, and PhD student in English literature at Karlstad University.

She was one of the founders of the anti-racist and feminist platform Rummet, which was founded in 2013. She made the podcast The Hour of Revenge with Mireya Echeverría Quezada on Expressen in 2014-2015. In 2015, Ordfront Publishing House published the anthology Rummet where Kiros is one of the authors. Her texts are also included in the published book Bildning: då, nu och sen.

In 2016, the program series “Svensk slavhandel” was broadcast on Sveriges Television and Sveriges utbildningsradio where Judith traveled to Saint-Barthélemy to see the traces of Sweden’s colonial history. In 2017, she was the host of Utbildningsradion’s program Nationen.

In 2016, Kiros became part of the magazine Flamman’s leadership reaction. She is one of the founders of Kontext Press, which is a cross-media platform for thoughtful journalism and critical entertainment launched in 2019.

In 2019, Kiros debuted “O”, a mix of essay and poetry, in which she explores blackness and feminism based on William Shakespeare’s Othello. “O” was nominated for Borås Tidning’s Debutant Prize and the Writers’ Union’s Catapult Prize.
