I found this sister on Facebook and LOVE what she is doing in fashion. AND I’m so lucky because she is here in Sweden like me so I will try and meet her and hug her and thank her for bringing African fashion to Sweden and the world via her AfricanQueen.se website.
BACKGROUND
Ever since I was a little girl I have had a lot of interest in clothes and fashion. I remember I used to lock myself in my room for hours and try on different clothes and styles. I also made my clothes and created my own styles.
While growing up, I found it difficult to match and use African fabrics & styles, because I grew up with western fashion culture. Over time, it became easier and easier, and today I appreciate it very much and gladly share it.
CULTURE & INSPIRATION
It was about blending my two cultural heritages. That’s what this webshop is about. To integrate two cultures with each other. However, it does not end there. It’s also about helping people.
I find my inspiration in meeting with other people. My inspiration comes from within – through visions – where I see what I want to create. Furthermore, I am inspired by nature and its colors and beauty.
