Happy 2023!

I hope you entered 2023 safe and sound and looking ahead to the next 364 days. Whatever you did to make it through the 2020, 2021, and 2022 pandemic chaos worked. Congratulations! That is no small feat. How are you walking into 2023?

I like making lists but I can’t remember the last time I made a list of New Year’s Resolutions. Did you make a list of resolutions for 2023? How many? Same for 2021? Do you go back at the end of the year and cross them off?

What resolutions will you make for 2023? I hope you reach them all!

In 2021 I set “No” for my word for the year. No to saying yes when I’d rather not. No to serving in leadership positions and getting micro-aggressed by your colleagues in return. No to being bullied by adults. You get the idea.

“No” worked so well in 2021 that it was my word for 2021. It was easier to say and I had to say it less often. I used it at the end of the year to turn down a leadership position for a team I enjoy being a part of. After two successful years, saying No is now a habit.

For 2023 I set a mantra. Three mantras really. They are the embodiment of what and who I want to be in 2023. I already am who I want to be. That’s how mantras work. They are worded in the present and are positive.

I printed it out, framed it in a portable size, and look at it every day. I repeat it several times a day during Yoga practice. I live and breathe it. What would your mantra(s) be?

May 2023 treat you right. Beyond everything though, treat yourself right.
