afrocenchix

At Afrocenchix we believe the little things in life should be simple. We blend natural and organic ingredients with expertise to make hair care as simple as possible. Supporting Britain is important to us so we work with UK scientists and chemists to formulate high quality products, we manufacture in the UK and support British suppliers. Our products are never tested on animals, our raw materials are ethically sourced and we use environmentally friendly preservatives.

Rachael is allergic to everything, so we are careful to make sure our products are free from common allergens including parfum and other artificial fragrances. Joycelyn has a sensitive nose, so we ensure that our products smell delicious.

The Afrocenchix co-founders create every product themselves and use the products themselves, as do their families. Because of this you can trust that each bottle is filled with goodness and will do exactly what it says.

We believe taking care of the environment is just as important as taking care of your hair, so our packaging is 100% recyclable and we use organic ingredients wherever possible. We believe encouraging sustainability means farmers should be paid fairly and ingredients should be sourced ethically so we support Fairtrade*.

After years of rejection from wholesalers saying black women’s needs are “niche” it was great to be voted BBFA BEST NATURAL HAIR BRAND 2018 & to be the first product for afro hair in Whole Foods UK. In 2018 we raised funding from Angel investors and funds from our WeWork Global Creator Award and Backstage Capital were added to the round in 2019.

Running our award winning business in line with our principles helps us to deliver top quality, guilt free products that work for your hair without fuss. We believe the little things in life should be simple, because it’s the little things in life that make a big difference.

*Our raw shea butter has been certified organic by the Soil Association and certified Fairtrade by the Fairtrade labelling organisation. We are working on more Fairtrade and organic goodies as you read this! Read the full story on their website.
