The Peagie Woobay Scholarship Fund is a non-governmental organization founded in March 2013 legally registered in Sweden, Sierra Leone and USA with the aim of empowering girls in Sierra Leone through education and also giving teen mums a second chance so they do not drop out completely of the educational system. We have also been show casing Sierra Leone in Sweden through our annual exhibition since 2014 called Explore Sierra Leone. The foundation today has 187 beneficiaries country wide of which 52 are teen mums, gone back to school and 135 girls in normal stream schools who are been mentored and motivated and taught the risks of teenage pregnancy thereby discouraging them to become pregnant and understand the values of education. We today have a total of 10 girls in university which shows that our support to the girls is efficient.
After years of exhibiting Sierra Leone in Sweden, we took 11 Swedes on our 1st Touristic charity trip in March this year called Explore Sierra Leone for a good cause. A ten days trip all inclusive with 8days of tourism and 2 days of charity work with our girls. This year we worked with the girls in our resource centre in Moyamba. In 2020 we plan on doing the 2 days charity work in Kabala, northern Sierra Leone where we also have a resource centre. Our resource centres have libraries, daycares, health rooms and playgrounds for the kids of teen mums and also help with after school work for the girls in the libraries.
